There is a big tree of Nanjya-Monjya or Hitorubatago in Okuwa village. The tree in English is Chinese Fringetree or Chionanthus retusus,which has beautiful white flowers in May every year. The following photo was taken May 10th, 2023.
At the root of the tree, you can find the board that explains the tree in both Japanese and English. The tree is beside the water pipe gate of Okuwa Hydarulic Power Plant.
If you hike on the road along the opposite bank to the Nakasendo highway, try to find it.
