How to get Okuwa village from a foreign country

For foreigners who visit Okuwa village, an international airport in a big city is the entrance.

Especially those who come from the North America or Europe, Haneda International Airport is the best. It has many direct flights to/from major cities in the North America and Europe. Narita International Airport also has many direct flights but it further than Haneda. In Nagoya, Chubu Centrair International Airport is there and it is the nearest international airport to Okuwa village but it has no direct flight to/from those regions as of August, 2023.

If you take a train to Okuwa village, two routes are available. One is the JR Chuo-Line route starting from Shinjuku station to Okuwa station via Shiojiri station. Another route is Shinkansen or a bullet train route from Tokyo station or Shinagawa station to Nagoya station then you transfer to JR Chuo-Line to Okuwa station. The former route (route-1) is less expensive and the latter (route-2) takes shorter time. Haneda International Airport is directly connected to the Metropolitan Expressway and you can easily take an express bus to JR stations.

If someone picks up you at the airport, Haneda International Airport is convenient since the Metropolitan Expressway easily connects to the Chuo Expressway, which leads you to Nagano prefecture.
