Koiji in Japanese means a lover’s pathway. So, Koiji pass means a pass on the lover’s pathway. Itis at the border between Okuwa village and Nagiso town. There is a stone monument at the pass. Beside the monument, you find a chain, called happy chain, and some locks on it. It is said that if a couple locks a lock to the chain together, they will be united. Therefore, the chain is called so. A lock is available at Forespa Kiso Atera.
There is a observatory deck, from which you can see the Central Alps. The deck has a map of the Central Alps in Japanese.
It is a good idea that you walk from Nagiso town to Okuwa village through the pass or vice versa.
