Modern Public Library inspiring the residents

Exploring Points

Okuwa village has a modern public library, which opened in September 2022 on the first floor of the Okuwa village office.

Before the library opened, the village didn’t have a proper library but a limited collection of books housed at a communication center branch within the village.

The demand of this new public library in the village arose to furnish residents of the village with up-to-date, extensive, and enriching knowledge resources. With this objective, the library curated its book collection and procured new titles, resulting in a total of approximately 14,000 books as of August 2023.

The library opens even on weekends to provide convenient access for the residents, including students, to its book collection.

Additionally, a book search service is available via the library’s desktop computers.

A noteworthy aspect of this library is its collection focused on local history and culture. Some of these resources might be accessible through the library only. If you seek to dive in the history and culture of the Kiso district, the library is the best place.

Anyone, even non-resident of the village, can access the collection.
