Okuwa village is the place that the first forest railway was constructed more than a hundred years agoin Japan. Since the forest in the village had well been preserved and the huge amount o f Cypress trees was there, the infrastructure to carry the trees out of the forest were intentionally developed. Still now some ruins of the forest railway remain in the village. One of the representative relics is the old bridge crossing the Kiso River. It is the biggest relic of the forest railways in Kiso district.
The nearest bridge to the Nojiri station, crossing the Takeno-sawa river built in 1921.

After the Kiso-gawa Bridge, the railway crosses Nagatori river, where only bridge bases remain.
