Okuwa village is the nice place to raise children. There are pure nature, fresh air and no stress that comes from crowds in a city.
Public Schools in Okuwa village
Okuwa Elementary School
The first school the children in Okuwa village enter is the Okuwa Elementary School in Nojiri area. The school was established in 2003 integrating three elementary schools in the village; Suhara, Okuwa and Nojiri elementary school due to declining the number of children.



Okuwa Junior High School
After graduating the elementary school, the children in the village enter the Okuwa Junior High School in Nagano area, which is the center of the village. The current campus was opened as a renewal of the previous campus in 1992.



High Schools in Kiso District
There is no high school in Okuwa village. Therefore, the children will go to Sonan High School in Nagiso town or Kiso Seiho High School in Kiso town. Otherwise they go to a high school outside of Kiso district. Trains are only the way to go to school.
Sonan High School
The school is established in 1953 and now it has four courses; General, Electrical, Commercial and Integrated course. The site locates at the mountain side, 15 minutes on foot from JR Nagiso station. The official website of the school is available in Japanese.



Kiso Seiho High School
Kiso Seiho School opened in 2007 integrating Kiso High School at the top of Komaruga-hill and Sanrin High School at Sinkai area in Kiso town. Therefore, the Kiso Seiho High School has two campuses; the Okano-ue (hilltop) Campus and the Shinkai Campus. The school has four courses; General, Science and Mathematics, Forest Environment, Interior Design course.The official web site of the school is available.
