Mt. San-no-sawa locates on the boundary of the Okuwa village and Agematsu town. The mountain can be seen many places in Okuwa village from Suhara area to Nojiri area. It means almost the whole village can be seen from the top of Mt. San-no-sawa. You can see the Kiso river is winding like a snake and the resident areas in the village are along it.
The following picture taken on the top of Mt. San-no-sawa shows major points in the village , the Okuwa vil. Sports Park, the Okuwa Junior High School, the mouth of Atera river and the Forespa Kiso Atera, which are pinned in the map after the picture.
The route to the top of Mt. San-no-sawa is on the boundary, which runs along the ridgeline of the mountains, starting the San-no-sawa junction on the ridgeline up the Senjojiki Cirque.
The course time from the junction to the top of Mt. San-no-sawa is 2 hours and 30 minutes. To get the junction, the use of Komagatake Ropeway is the best. To get the ropeway station, public buses are available, which can be taken from the Sugano-dai parking lot. It is about 1 and half hours from Okuwa village to the parking lot by car.
